What we store

Effective 2 September 2026. elementbid is operated by Jorge (@codebyjorge). This policy explains what the Service collects and why.

If you claim a tile

We store what the tile displays and what proves you paid for it:

• the app name, icon URL, category, rating, store link, colour, and optional tagline you submitted;
• the amount paid, the time of the claim, and the payment identifier returned by Polar.

Your claim is public by design. That is the product. It stays visible after you are outbid, because the board is a record of who held what.

We never see your card details. Checkout is handled entirely by Polar as merchant of record, who collect your email and billing information under their privacy policy. We receive only a payment identifier and a confirmation that the payment succeeded.

If you just visit

• Visitor counts. A random session identifier is generated in your browser and sent to us so the board can show how many people are here. It is not linked to you or to any other data, and clearing your browser storage resets it. Sessions idle for 30 days are deleted automatically.
• Click counts. When you click through to someone's app we count it once per day. To do that without storing your IP address, we hash it together with a secret salt and keep only the hash. An IP address cannot be recovered from it.
• Your preferences. Light or dark mode is stored in your own browser and never sent to us.
• Anonymous analytics. Umami gives us aggregate pageviews, referrers, campaign parameters, approximate country, device and browser information, performance measurements, and named interactions such as opening a tile, starting checkout, or sharing the site. Umami uses no cookies or cross-site identifiers. We do not send pasted links, app names, checkout identifiers, payment details, or raw error messages as analytics properties.

What we do not do

• No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
• No selling personal data or sharing it for advertising purposes.
• No accounts, so there are no passwords to lose.
• No email marketing. We do not hold your email address.
• No profiling and no automated decisions about you.

Who processes data for us

• Convex: hosts the board database and backend.
• Polar: merchant of record, handles checkout, payment data, invoices, and tax.
• Netlify: serves the site.
• Umami: provides cookie-free, aggregate site and product analytics.
• Apple and Google: when you paste a store link, we fetch that listing's public icon and metadata from them.

How long we keep things

Claim and bid records are kept for as long as the board runs, since they are the board's public history. Presence sessions are deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Click records are stored as salted hashes with no identifying value. Umami analytics are currently retained for up to six months under its free plan.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to processing, or to complain to a supervisory authority. Ask us and we will remove a listing and its holder details from the board. Payment records held by Polar are subject to their retention policy and to financial record-keeping law, so those may survive removal from the board.
